The criminal justice minor provides a background in criminology, corrections, deviance and relevant legal issues. For those considering working within or alongside law enforcement, this minor could help prepare you through classroom learning and networking with instructors who are current and former practitioners in the field.

Some classes in this minor include:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Corrections
  • Deviance
  • Criminal Law
  • Criminal Justice Internship

My advice to new students would be to just start networking as soon as possible. It is standard with any job, but it is really important in the criminal justice field. Try to get your name out there in the field. Also, request to do multiple ride alongs in patrol cars or job shadowing to really get some experience before you graduate.
